49% Indian Employees Want To Switch Jobs Amid Growing Work Stress On A Daily Basis: Report

  • May 3, 2025
  • Com 0

Per the latest Gallup finding in its State of the Global Workforce 2025 Report, employees across South Asia, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, exhibit a similar pattern. Most of them are hardly satisfied with their current job. Not to mention the anger issues. It is relatively higher than other regions, which include the US, Canada, the UE, and Sub-Saharan Africa, among others. Globally, employee engagement has declined by a staggering 21% in the fiscal year 2024.

The report reveals that at least 49% of employees in India want to switch. 39% of the employees in India that were a part of the poll reported significantly higher levels of distress. 34% reported daily anger. 29% reported they felt lonely at the workplace on a daily basis.

Despite the higher percentage of Indian employees actively looking for better opportunities, fewer companies cater to employees’ mental health and well-being. A handful of the companies have it boldly manifested on their portals and policies but internally the peeps behave like animals in a fast-paced, toxic work culture. Deadlines are getting deadlier, with recurring reports of employees either passing away due to overwork or simply un-aliving themselves. Add to that jingoistic entrepreneurs propagate grind culture without giving two hoots about work life balance, which only a handful speak about.
